Episode Seventeen features Mary Fain Brandt talking about LinkedIn Marketing.
My Key Takeaways:
Mary is a big fan of using LinkedIn to Connect, Cultivate, and Convert Clients.
She also said that it is never too late to pivot in to a career if you are unhappy with where you currently are at.the average length of a job now is only 2.5 to 3 years.
Mary advised canvassing friends and colleagues to find out what 'makes you fabulous' and to use that list of keywords when looking for the next opportunity on LinkedIn.  A lot of our skills are transferrable to different careers.
She also advised to create a personal brand and to start growing your network because that is where your next opportunity i likely to come from.
The main advantage of having a company page if you are a Solopreneur is so that you can have the logo reflect on the experience section of your LinkedIn profile.  You can also put articles on it.
Your personal profile should have a recent headshot.  You should have a robust ABOUT YOU section
Mary is a big fan of using Emoji to breakup the page.  She also referenced a study that said the brain has to pause for comprehension when it encounters an emoticon or emoji.
She advocated using scheduling tools like Agorapulse or PromoRepublic to post content
Regarding posting Mary advised that you should try to post once daily but that it really depends on how often your audience wants to hear from you.  She also advised publishing an article once a month to build authority.
She will also have a LinkedIn Accelerator program starting in October that can help people move the needle.
