Oprah, Chris Rock, and John Moyer Go Into A Bar...#shorts

You may have heard of the Baby Effect - John Lee Dumas of the Entrepreneurs On Fire podcast describes it as being a common theme that comes up in so many Entrepreneurs’ journeys. It typically surfaces in response to questions like, “When did it all turn around for you?”, and “When were you able to kick it into high gear and really start to make things happen?”

Their answer? "When I found out I was going to have a baby."

John Moyer describes a similar effect that he learned from an Oprah Winfrey interview with comedian Chris Rock.
To paraphrase, Oprah asked Chris "You were on Saturday night live, but it just seems that recently you came out of nowhere, you just really exploded onto the scene and became a really popular comedian, a movie star. What happened?"

Chris Rock simply said, "I bought a house that I couldn't afford."

John (Moyer) went on to explain how this impacted his thinking:
"So if there was a time in my life when something had to come up, I'm like, man, I need more money for this or whatever the case may be. Instead of going well, I guess I can just go out and look at the help wanted ads. I said, no, how can I pull this off being creative?"

Sometimes we need an external reason that seems bigger than ourselves to make us commit to massive action.

From the actual interview with john Moyer:
Years ago in the nineties I remember watching Chris Rock on the Oprah show and Oprah was interviewing Chris Rock. And she said, we know that you've been in a few movies here and there. You were on Saturday night live, but it just seems that recently you came out of nowhere, you just really exploded onto the scene and became a really popular comedian, a movie star.

She goes, what happened? And Chris Rock said, I bought a house that I couldn't afford. So I had to come up with money. So I had to push myself harder to do more, to be able to compensate for, the money that I needed. So if there was a time in my life when something had to come up, I'm like, man, I need more money for this or whatever the case may be. Instead of going well, I guess I can just go out and look at the help wanted ads.

I said, no, how can I pull this off being creative? And that's kind of how my mindset drove me my entire life.
